Employment Plus (agency) are now recruiting for a number of Ambulance Care Assistant roles. You will be working for the Non-Emergency Patient Transport (NEPT) service for Epsom & St Helier NHS Trust.
The successful applicants will be part of a large team working to safely transport patients with a range of needs in non-emergency situations. You will need to work flexible shift patterns including evenings and weekends. The post holder may be required to work with a colleague or independently once the appropriate competencies have been reached.
We are initially looking for in the region of 10 staff working a range of shifts, predominantly Early 0, Mids 1 and Lates 1 - you must be flexible to cover all these shifts. Hours will be 45 hours per week with a half hour daily unpaid break. This post is both a demanding and rewarding patient facing role.

Key Responsibilities
Patient Care
- Convey allocated patients and escorts to and from home address, to and from hospital or other treatment centres and between hospitals, other treatment centres or care facilities in a professional and caring manner which creates customer satisfaction and confidence in the Trust
- Ensure the patient's home is secured if left unattended and maintain the security of, when entrusted with responsibility for, valuables including money and personal belongings whilst the patient is in the post holder's care
- Exchange with hospital, other medical, social services, care home and administrative support staff all condition related and domestic circumstance information necessary to the provision of quality care within a patient focused environment
- Provide a quality of travel that is both a smooth and comfortable experience for passengers and non-detrimental to the patient's condition
- Undertake long-distance journeys as requested
- Stop, report and lend appropriate assistance, within competencies, at the scene of any untoward incident that may require first aid and / or ambulance intervention on route.
- Be Physically fit able to lift patients, following Moving & Handling training
- Able to work effectively as part of a team
- Strong communication and excellent interpersonal skills
- A Caring attitude towards vulnerable patients, able to show empathy in a friendly manner
