We have a great opportunity for an experienced analytical Purchaser/Stock Controller to join a well- established, family run, horticulture business, specialising in selling forestry trees, hedging plants and their accessories. Your purchasing skills, along with a great passion for analytical detail, will be to collate the purchasing functions, currently shared, into one role. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Purchasing Assistant/Stock Controller to develop their career and make their mark in this growing business who enjoy a friendly, stable workforce. We cannot over-emphasise that the Purchasing Assistant we appoint must have a great analytical mind.

Situated in a rural location you will need your own transport. This newly created role will require you to be comfortable working in an open plan office, taking instruction from colleagues and working to very detailed, exacting, analytical procedures and deadlines.

This seasonal business will need the Purchaser/Stock Controller to be happy to work under more intense pressure during the busy periods (October – April), and then to able to adapt to more strategic purchasing functions and planning roles within the quieter months.

Personal specification – Purchasing Assistant:

 

  • Numerically strong with an analytical nature is essential.
  • Advanced Excel & IT skills are required, with a passion for accuracy and strict attention to detail.
  • Professional communication skills required when conversing either face to face, over the phone or on email with suppliers, colleagues and customers.
  • A good team worker is critical to the success of this business, often multi-tasking to support colleagues within their roles when pressure points arise throughout the busy season.

 

Key responsibilities – Purchasing Assistant:

Duties are divided into seasonal sectors – Pre-season, In-season, Post-season.

Full responsibilities will be outlined at the next stage of the application process. In brief:

 

  • Liaise with growers and suppliers on availability prior to and throughout the course of the season which commences late October
  • Work closely with Sales Administrators to determine requirements and timings for sales orders
  • Produce call off documents and purchase orders with growers and suppliers and liaise regarding delivery
  • Produce check in documents and labels for all stock deliveries. Assist in the check off process if required
  • Book goods in against purchase orders/call off documents
  • Liaise with nursery staff and suppliers on stock issues, shortages against inventory stock, stock write offs, quality issues
  • Produce purchasing reports when requested, supplier spend analysis, stock values etc
  • Request nursery stock takes when required and update inventory to reflect any changes
  • Obtain prices from growers and suppliers for non-stocked items, add new lines to inventory

 

You may be currently working in any of the following positions Factory Planner, Stock Controller, Purchasing Administrator, Planning Administrator or Inventory Controller. With your own transport the position is commutable distance from Waddingham, Lincoln, Market Rasen, Caistor, Brigg, Kirton Lindsey or Scunthorpe.
