Head of Electrical Standards & Assurance
Location - London, Brentwood, Hatfield, Glasgow, Manchester, Cardiff

Our ideal candidate, is a Chartered Electrical Engineer, who also has significant experience in health, safety, and environment compliance.
The purpose of this role is to ensure a safe, stable, secure operating environment is established and managed to host and house BT's dynamic infrastructure network and IT platforms. This spans around 5,600 network exchanges, data centres, GDC data centres and some customer hosted power infrastructure on behalf of the Lines of Business.
As a 'Head of' senior leader, this role will take accountability, on behalf of BT, for Electrical standards, health & safety and environmental compliance. Within this role you will be a Subject matter expert, with an up to date certified accreditation, significant operational experience, and the gravitas to represent BT, as the named standards and assurance lead for BT's vast electrical estate.

A subject matter expert (SME), you will have deep engineering experience covering; infrastructure management, regulatory and compliance aspects (Power, cooling, electrical, health and safety etc.) Operational knowledge of running large scale electrical estates and attention to detail.
You will be responsible for representing BT internally and externally, setting and securing compliance to policy. You will be a recognised industry expert, and will act as BT's spokesperson on all M&E policy and standards issues. As the lead SME you will be responding to internal and external stakeholders in response to any incidents that occur on BT's estate.

What you'll be doing
- You will be a key part of the leadership team that will be defining, communicating and maintaining the evolution of the energy, power and cooling strategic vision to underpin an All IP Network by 2025.
- In the event of any electrical failure / issues you will manage the engagement with the regulatory authority's pre and post incidents.
- You will be BT's lead SME and manage and own forensic examinations of any failure in the power, cooling, fire, flood and gas aspects of our business.
- Owning audit and assurance, driving root cause analysis and ensuring key lessons learned are applied across BT's Dynamic Infrastructure estate.
- Compliance management - tracking, reporting, controlling and communicating the application of related policies in our electrical estate.
- Capturing, reviewing and mitigating the biggest areas of risk (including health and safety and legislation compliance risks). Lead all commitments to the ARC and Audit functions on behalf of the sponsor.
- Driving learning as the defector in service incidents, the Identification of root causes, provision of continued technical and procedural coaching with EES and suppliers and implementation of corrective actions to protect against recurrence.
- Provide inspirational leadership, direction and coaching to the power, cooling and compliance team. An ambassador of the connected leader principles and application of high challenge and support leadership.
- Transformation and discipline across the power, cooling and compliance organisation to drive highly engaged, continuous development culture. Continuous review of responsibilities across the organisation to exploit opportunities to down-stream responsibilities into BAU with the EES power community.
- Work with the Director of Environmental Services in the definition, communication and leadership of the operational strategy that supports BT Group, TSO, Dynamic Infrastructure and Environmental Services.

- (CEng) Chartered Electrical Engineer
- Member of IET
- Current 17 th Edition Wiring Regulations certified
- Knowledge and experience of telecoms and/or data centre powering solutions - planning or operations
- Knowledge and experience of telecoms and / or data centre environmental solutions - planning or operations
- Knowledge and experience of DC power systems and distribution - planning or operations
