Teaching Assistant

We are looking for an experienced Teaching Assistant to join us at The Whitby High School. This is an exciting time for the department, which is under new leadership and highly regarded in the school. In this role you’ll be working alongside students and inspiring them in their learning.

Hours: 30 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (term time plus inset days)

Person specification

• Proficient in the use of ICT to support learning
• Able to use a wide range of teaching strategies to meet the needs of all students
• Experience of working in an educational setting
• Minimum of NVQ Level 3, GCSE English and Maths, or equivalent.  
• Experience of working with students with ASC and ADHD advantageous

Teaching Assistant duties

• Supporting groups of students or 1:1 with students with recognised special educational needs in the classroom
• Delivering personal intervention programmes
• Monitor individual student’s progress, achievements and development and report these to the teaching staff/line manager
• Training available if required
