The Whitby High School is looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Science Technician to join our friendly staff.

Hours: 35 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (term time plus inset)

 

Person specification

  • Sufficient knowledge to support teaching staff at an appropriate level
  • Understanding of COSHH Health and Safety legislation, policies and procedures.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of laboratory methodologies and practices, quantities and reactions of mixing chemicals and hazardous materials.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • GCSE English, Maths and Science
  • Previous experience in a similar role.

 

Science Technician duties

  • Providing a practical, daily technical service to members of the teaching staff in the science department.
  • Responsible for the preparation and provision of equipment, apparatus and chemicals to enable students to carry our laboratory experiments.
  • Cleaning, maintenance, testing and repairing equipment
  • Full training available if required.
