Goods-in Clerk/Laboratory Support (Part Time 0.68 FTE)

We are recruiting a part-time Goods-In Clerk/Laboratory Support Post for the MRC Mitochondrial Unit (MBU). Hours will be 25 per week Mon-Fri, with the understanding that further working hours may be required to cover team absences such as holidays.

The post holder will be within the Infrastructure team of the MBU, and will chiefly work as part of the joint Goods-in function in the Wellcome Trust/MRC Building on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. The post holder will accept deliveries of scientific consumables and equipment, check their contents and receipt goods, as part of a team of three. They will also be required to organise returns, deal with discrepancies and be responsible for maintaining central supplies of certain items used for research purposes. Other duties will include managing the daily supply of items from the small in-house ‘stores’, delivering internal orders to the scientists in the MBU and applying bar codes to laboratory chemicals that are received and updating the database. From time to time they will be required to provide members of the MBU Infrastructure team with additional support, for example; equipment relocation, room clearances and other ad-hoc projects.

Good interpersonal skills, clear communication and team working are essential, as is an organised and approach. Previous experience of working in a similar environment is advantageous in this physically demanding role.
