Production Co-Ordinator

Techniche are working in partnership with a local manufacturing and production organisation in the appointment of a new Production Co-ordinator.

The company is a well-established local business of over 50 years, with a UK wide & global presence employing over 300 staff. This is an exciting time to join the organisation as they are embarking on a strategic 5-year growth plan and investing heavily in their production facilities, technology and systems.

This position will be responsible for the Production Co-Ordination & Planning of 6 different areas of the manufacturing facility, each with their own supervisor reporting to this post. Indirectly this will cover over 60 members of production staff. Communication, people skills and the effective collaboration between all 6 areas is a key element to this position. Along with more administrative duties such as production planning, personnel management etc.

In summary; for this post it is essential that someone has a strong factory floor presence, ability to communicate, problem solve and build effective teams. Whilst also taking care of any administrative duties behind the scenes.

For this position we can consider all levels of applicant that have some experience of managing people in a manufacturing/production environment (from team leader, supervisor level up to Production Management level).

Experience Required

* Experience in a Production or Manufacturing environment

* A background managing, coordinating, overseeing teams of shop floor personnel

* Experience of communicating with production teams at a factory floor level (hands on)

* Excellent communication skills (adapting styles to suit different scenarios)

* Demonstratable experience of motivating and directing high performing areas of manufacture/production (i.e. at a team leader, supervisor or management level)

* Experience of managing staff (at any level; team leader, supervisor or management)

* Ability to handle pressure & experience of doing so.

* Computer literate & good numerical skills

* Able to demonstrate collaboration, diplomacy, confidence and interpersonal skills

* Well organised, able to prioritise, problem solve and apply analytical skills

The Role

To plan, organise and oversee the smooth running of production in order to ensure that goods are produced efficiently, on time, and to the quality standard required

Responsibilities / Duties

* Overseeing production process;

* Making sure products are produced on time and are of good quality;

* To draw up and coordinate schedules for production;

* To coordinate flow of work within and between departments;

* Assist in day to day production operations;

* Confer with department supervisors to determine process of work and to provide information in relation to any changes;

* Ensuing that health and safety guidelines are followed;

* Conducting risk assessments;

* Compile reports concerning progress of work, rescheduling and issues arising (i.e. machine breakdowns, shortages etc.);

* Reporting promptly any breakdowns / issue affecting output;

* Carry out time in motion studies as required;

* Working to KPIs in order to measure and evaluate the effectiveness of the departments;

* Coordinate with project teams (e.g. R&D);

* Working out the human and material resources needed to carry out and complete a job on time;

* To be the "first port of call" for staff concerns and complaints;

* Supervising and motivating teams;

* Identifying training needs;

* Conducting appraisals;

* To maintain accuracy of data systems;

* Ensuring the highest quality of housekeeping is met
