HR Manager (Standalone)

Permanent

Gloucester

Salary GBP25,000 - GBP30,000 (dependant on experience)

Adecco Cheltenham are excited to be representing a forward-thinking company in their search for a standalone HR Manager to join their team on a Permanent basis. Our client is a national wholesale and distribution company who have experienced continued success over the years.

Due to the growth in recent years, our client has created this brand new role to ensure that the company can continue to look after its employees as the size of the company grows further. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this is a stand-alone role which will provide you with the perfect opportunity to utilise your vast Generalist HR knowledge to improve HR policies in-house.

Duties will involve:

• The monitoring and reviewing of HR policies, processes and legislating: implementing changes where necessary.

• Applying HR and business knowledge, evidencing appropriate decision-making skills.

• Advising management on the T&Cs of employment and share best practice with them.

• Developing HR policies and processes to drive performance.

• Providing first-line advice for employees and managers concerning current company benefits.

• Advising on recruitment and selection strategies. This will form a pivotal part of the role as the company continues their growth.

• Supporting the recruitment process as required; this may include writing job descriptions, preparing interview questions and creating application forms etc.

• Coordinating the appointment process for New Starters and facilitating the on-boarding process.

• Administering payroll and payroll records, keeping accounts appraised of any changes.

• Updating and maintaining the HR Information System Data.

• Participating in the implementation of specific projects to help align the workforce with the strategic goals of the business. Upcoming projects include a new CRM software implementation, and our client would like to review their Employee Benefits.

The successful candidate will possess:

• Proven generalist HR experience at a minimum of Advisory level (HR Managers and Business Partners of SMEs will have a distinct advantage).

• The successful candidate must be comfortable working in a demanding standalone environment.

• Full driving license and access to a vehicle.

• Ideally you will possess a Degree Qualification (or equivalent) in any discipline; or a recognised qualification within HR (ideally at CIPD level). Candidates who are qualified through substantial experience are still welcome to apply!

• Strong working knowledge of HR policies (and implementation of these) is key due to the standalone nature of the role.

• A background within SMEs in the private sector is preferred.

• You'll need to be resourceful with strong initiative, and able to quickly fill any of your knowledge gaps/rustiness in HR policy through research and other resources.

• Commercial awareness: the ability to consult with senior management and in particular the Managing Director, especially when suggesting changes in HR policy. You will be able to convey the wider affect of changes to the business; positive or negative.

In return our client can offer you:

• A competitive salary up to circa GBP30,000 dependant on experience.

• Working hours of Monday-Thursday 8am-5pm and Friday 8am-12pm!

• 28 days holiday increasing to 33 days after 5 years' service, in addition to pension contributions.

• The opportunity to make a valued difference in an independent, thriving company rather than a corporate giant where you may feel you are just a number. Particularly as a HR Manager, you will experience less red tape when reviewing policies and suggesting improvements.

• Company phone and laptop allowance (for personal use).

• Childcare voucher scheme.

• Gym Membership contribution.

• Beautifully presented offices and a lovely team to join!
