Business Analyst - Pharmaceutical Database

You will be the first hire in the Uk so this is a contract that will likely extend and could grow into an even more exciting role. To give you an indea on the scope of the role:
Responsible for: Identification of Pharmaceutical Database and requirements and associated decision support for new GP IT system.
A great opportunity for a knowledgeable pharmacist (or ex-pharmacist) to help stand up a pharmaceutical database for an exciting new international entrant into the English GP software market. We are looking for an individual who understands the UK primary care ecosystem (good knowledge of NHS minimum standards/requirements is a requirement) and associated prescribing workflows. The applicant will also understand the NHS-supplied dm+d drug database as well as having previous experience with how software can manage the updates to drug databases and clinical decision-making engines.
Four week contracting role based in Birmingham/Leeds area with potential to extend.
Required skills for performing this role:
- Practising or previously practising UK pharmacist
- Thorough understanding of prescribing workflows within a UK GP context and UK GP software context (specifically England), including what is deemed to be best practice
- Familiarity with prescribing workflows in existing GP software in England, including EMIS, TPP and Vision, and their strengths and weaknesses in the medication management context
- Good understanding of the structure of the NHS in England, the role of NHS Digital, Local Authorities, CCGs, the NHS Spine etc.
- Good understanding of various prescribing-related content sources/stakeholders for NHS primary care including dm+d, Drug Tariff, BNF, Stockley's Drug Interactions, FDB, ScriptSwitch, OptimiseRx etc.)
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of the requirements behind additional modules for managing prescribing:
- Clinical Decision Support
- Drug interactions
- Contra-indications, precautions, warnings
- Adverse effects
- Safety in special circumstances - e.g. pregnancy, breastfeeding etc.
- Allergy screening
- Referential clinical content e.g. BNF and BNF for Children, SPCs, PILs etc.
- Prescription cost optimisation
- Some understanding of pharmaceutical database management within an IT context would be an advantage
- Some familiarity with relational database management, specifically SQL, would be an advantage
- Some familiarity with Snomed CT would be an advantage
- Conduct analysis to define the business rules and requirements around the prescribing workflows, decision support and modules for future GP IT system
- Where there are certain product and/or integration decisions to be made in relation to pharmaceutical, decision support and prescribing modules, analyse options and provide recommendation of preferred options to stakeholders
- Work with technical, architecture and product team to estimate effort relating to these prescription business rules and requirements for input into a business case
- Identification of innovative value add components that existing GP IT solutions do not offer that a future product could offer, where possible
