Ocean Freight Export/Import Coordinator

Essex

Position Summary:

To arrange and monitor ocean freight shipments to and from outside of the EU, but mainly focusing on the Far East and USA. liaising with suppliers and partners to deliver a high level of service to our clients so their expectations are met and where possible exceeded. Assistance on import consignments when required.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and develop relationships with customer.
  • To meet deadlines/requirements as per client requests.
  • Monitor Supplier performance.
  • Good file management and attention to detail.
  • Prepare Quotations in accordance with client's request.
  • Booking vehicles with subcontractors in accordance with requirement
  • Complete required consignment documentation.
  • Complete export customs documents.
  • Ensure the correct export documentation is produced depending of country of destination.
  • Charging of own files
  • Assisting Colleagues during staff absences / holidays including imports

  • To react promptly and proactively to client requests

  • To ensure deadlines are kept by monitoring suppliers
  • To develop a good working relationship with your client accounts.
  • Maintain files in accordance with procedure
  • To achieve operational standards

Other Requirements:

  • General - Comply with the Company Health & Safety policy and procedures and any other tasks deemed necessary by the management team
  • Any other duties that the company may reasonably ask you to perform which are within your expertise and skill sets.
  • Basic knowledge of UK customs procedures
  • 4 - 5 years' experience in a similar role

  • Excellent communication verbal, written and interpersonal skills
  • Commercial awareness - right service provider for task/job.

  • Experienced with Microsoft Office packages e.g. word, excel, PowerPoint
  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills.
