LOCATION: Littlehampton, West Sussex
JOB TITLE: Assistant Chef
SALARY & BENEFITS: GBP9.25 per hour plus benefits
WORKING HOURS: Full Time - Tuesday to Friday (42 hours per week - Day shifts only)
THE COMPANY: Our client are a family owned business with 25 years experience in caring for the elderly who offer two beautiful care homes, with luxurious accommodation and first class care facilities to ensure that their residents are well looked after during their retirement years.
THE ROLE: A vacancy has arisen for an experienced and enthusiastic Assistant Chef to join our clients friendly team based in Littlehampton, West Sussex. You will work Tuesday to Friday and reporting to the Chef Manager you will ensure the smooth running of the catering provision within the home whilst providing high-quality and nutritious home-cooked meals to our residents.
Our client invest in training for staff to support a quality of care in which all can feel proud. As well as offering exceptional support to its residents, our client have been re accredited twice with the Investors in People standard in recognition of our commitment to the development of all their staff.
THE CANDIDATE: The successful candidate for the Assistant Chef's role must have previous experience in a similar role preparing food and meals and must be able to work well within a team, whilst monitoring the work of the Cook and Kitchen Assistant(s). You will also need to have good communication skills and spoken English as may be required to interact with residents and suppliers. Candidates will need to have a professional catering qualification and/or relevant experience, along with a valid food safety certificate. Previous experience/knowledge in cooking nutritious meals for the elderly and special diets desirable, but not essential.
Key Experience/ Characteristics preferred for the Assistant Chefs role :-
- Must live in or be within commutable distance to Littlehampton, West Sussex
- Will ideally have previous experience and related food safety or hygiene certificate
- Excellent communication and team skills are essential
- Although not essential, cooking nutritious meals for the elderly with special diets would be desirable
