I have a fantastic opportunity with Lyminting Hospital - University Hospital Southampton NHS FT, for a Procurement Specialist based in Lymington. This role is a temporary assignment for 3 months.

Main Purpose:

Work closely with Procurement Manager (Estates) and with the Trust`s Estates Departments to deliver savings against the Trust`s challenging Cost Improvement Programme. The post holder will lead on a portfolio of estates procurement contracts and projects with Trust Groups.

They will have a detailed understanding of all procurement procedures, including EU tendering, and have proven experience of delivering savings and managing collaborative relationships with like minded organizations and key strategic suppliers. The post requires a professional, motivated and enthusiastic approach, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to communicate at all levels and to have a flexible approach to work

General Duties:

o To work as a senior member of the procurement team participating in the development and implementation of customers` procurement strategies by ensuring it is communicated, understood and supported by budget managers and clinicians, so achieving the department`s objectives and ensuring commercial arrangements are optimized throughout the Trust.
o The post will involve the pro-active review and development of selected areas of non-pay spend and the planning, design and implementation of best value-for-money contracts and most cost-effective internal logistics arrangements. Best value-for-money contracts involve the development and expansion of contracts with collaborative organizations and other NHS Trusts.
o To be responsible for the commercial management of specific category areas and have lead procurement responsibility for relevant areas, working directly with the senior managers, budget managers, stakeholders and finance staff
o To take lead responsibility for delivering high value and complex procurement within your category areas
o To develop new and innovative methods of ensuring efficient processes for procurement in the Trust and deliver best value-for-money for stakeholders
o To deputise in the absence of the procurement manager
o This post is responsible for ensuring all capital and revenue trust expenditure is subject to value for money review in line with trust standing financial instructions.

Build Collaborative Relationships

o Proactively and positively contribute to delivery targets through individual and team effort. Manage the production of the required targets and control risks
o Support team members to deliver on their functionally relevant objectives through offering advice, guidance and support as appropriate

Strategic Purchasing & Supply Chain activity

o Establish and maintain strategic links with a range of external partners/stakeholders or manage the links made through the team. Engage with external partners/stakeholders to gain their necessary level of contribution & commitment to the successful delivery of your work
o Undertake proactive horizon scanning for either developments relating to trust work or opportunities for trust involvement around health issues

Contract Development and Management

o Provide specialist procurement knowledge across a broad spectrum of commodity areas
o Take responsibility for the purchase of goods by delivering a portfolio of complex and high-value contracts and develop new and innovative methods of maximizing cash releasing benefits and other added value benefits
