A global player in a specialist manufacturing sector is looking to recruit a commercially astute Finance Director who will report into the UK MD - with plenty of exposure to the CEO, CFO and board of directors
The successful candidate's accounting, compliance, financial reporting and budgeting expertise is considered an absolute minimum, but not a sufficient skill set, for the position. The UK FD must also be an aggressive analytic and strategic thought leader for the business; leveraging his/her financial reporting and analysis responsibilities to support and challenge key departments in the organization to optimize profitability and cash-flow through cost control, pricing discipline, operational effectiveness and working capital management.
The FD will also be expected to be a lead change agent for the business - driving process and organizational improvements both within and without the Finance team.
The Key Responsibilities of the Finance Director will include:
Reporting, Compliance, Cash and Working Capital Management:
?? Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual detailed reports on financial performance
?? Provide financial information and advice that is consistent, accurate, and meets the requirements of UK legislation and business reporting requirements
?? Ensuring that the regulatory requirements of all statutory bodies are met
?? Oversight of annual audit and company accounts
?? Maximise cash preservation and generation; responsibility for company cash management policies
?? Minimise overdue debt and constantly drive improvements in credit control service
?? Manage the business risk process, so that risks are identified, internal controls are robust, and Group requirements delivered
Financial Planning and Analysis:
?? Responsibility for and management of all budgeting, forecasting and long term planning processes
?? Provide robust customer and product mix analysis that identifies the drivers of profit margin performance
?? Support the Commercial team's monthly/quarterly customer and product profitability process
?? Contribute to the business' strategic and tactical activities with effective analytic and forecasting support
?? Partner closely with the Operations team to identify and develop solutions for cost and other negative variances to standards
?? Audit pricing models and price adjustment mechanisms to ensure accuracy and consistency
?? Evaluate and advise on the profit margin impact of new customer trading agreements
Executive Management and Leadership
?? Manage the Finance team to drive behavior change and improve capabilities and performance by re-setting objectives and KPI's, identifying training/development/recruiting needs and re-defining the team's overall role in the organization
?? Be the "Cost Reduction Champion" and support all departments with clear cost trend analysis and tracking
?? Support the Continuous Improvement/Lean Six Sigma Programmes through the provision of financial expertise and leadership of multi-functional team projects
Knowledge and Experience Preferred for Finance Director Role:
?? Qualified member of an accountancy body (ACCA, ACA, CIMA)
?? In-depth knowledge of corporate finance and accountancy principles, regulations and best practices
?? Audit / internal control implementation experience
?? Experience within a standard cost-based accounting system environment
?? Experience working as a finance professional in a well-establish, global manufacturing business with business unit level monthly and annual financial reporting responsibilities
?? Additional experience in a strategic finance position in either an FP&A or corporate development function is preferable
?? Proven track record as commercially astute leader with the ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels and link financial performance to business understanding within a manufacturing environment.
?? Proven ability to quickly understand key profitability drivers of a new business and competitive dynamics of a new market segment and/or industry
?? Exposure to strategic procurement and pricing strategies an advantage
?? Experience leading or participating in a multi-functional team to drive change across an organization (Lean/Six Sigma, post-merger integration, IT system implementation, organizational restructuring, etc)
?? Articulate and exceptional communication skills at all levels
?? Proficient in the use of MS Office (Advanced Excel) and ERP/financial management software
?? Proven ability to leverage IT systems to maximise information efficiency and effectiveness
