Job Description: Site & Premises Supervisor

The Site & Premises Supervisor is a varied position responsible for the overall security of the premises/fixtures & fittings, there repair, maintenance and cleaning and the while managing a small group of cleaners, contractors and assisting the Event Management Team with room and service setup. You will join the Cambridge Union Society at an interesting and exciting time as we move into the multi-million 2-year process of redeveloping our 152-year-old building. You will report to the Bursar the most senior member of staff on site and work alongside the events team.

Hours: 07:30 – 16:00

Core Responsibilities:

  • Identify and action within your capabilities any repair, maintenance and service requirements for the premises, fixtures and fittings.
  • Working with the Bursar to produce an Annual and 5-year maintenance plan, including budget planning
  • Managing and awarding contracts/contractors for agreed works
  • Management of building tools, equipment and supplies
  • Site security
  • Fire safety
  • Risk assessments
  • Health and safety assessments
  • Working with Events Management Team to setup rooms and services to required standards
  • Manage cleaning team and cleaning standards
  • Gardening and landscaping
  • Budget and contractual expenditure record keeping utilising PO system in conjunction with office team
  • Manage regular servicing requirements
  • Management of utility services, suppliers and record keeping

Essential Skills:

  • Previous proven experience in a similar environment
  • Proven experience with health and safety, fire safety, site security and risk assessments
  • Demonstrate a good level of previous experience in general maintenance
  • Flexibility where required in working week
  • Proven experience in lone and team working
  • Problem solving
  • A highly motivated individual with a ‘can do’ attitude
  • A good level of communicating in English

Desirable:

  • Formal qualification in property maintenance
  • Formal qualification in cleaning
  • Previous knowledge of fire panels
  • COSHH assessment training
  • Legionella and water risk assessment training
  • Mobile scaffold tower certification
