About the role

Support the WP team in all administrative activities in the organisation and delivery of our outreach events off and on campus. Including; managing and preparing our resources, recruiting and then allocating student staff to work at our events, paying and managing expenses claims for our student staff. Finally a big part of the role will be liaising with schools/colleges and specific WP target groups on behalf of the WP Officers to organise all of our events to confirm timings, dates and to collect essential information needed.  

About you (requirements)

We require our administrator to have an impeccable attention to detail to manage school bookings, student pay and to support the WP team in all activities leading up to organising small events to big conferences. The administrator needs to have outstanding organisational skills to achieve this, and to be an efficient communicator as they will be liaising with a large student staff to allocate them work and to pay them and they will be working with a large number of schools.

Widening Participation at Bath Spa University

The university’s widening participation outreach programme aims to support aspiration to higher education and educational attainment, and encourage people to progress to higher education. The Widening Participation Office provides a range of activities targeted at groups who are under-represented in higher education and have the potential to study at this level.  Examples of activities include University Visit Days, Study Skills Conferences, and in-school workshops and subject specific ‘Insight Days’.
           
We work with primary and secondary school students who meet one or more of the following criteria:

No family background of higher education  – parents/carers have little or no experience of higher education
Main home is in a low-participation neighbourhood (LPN)
From a care background
From a service family
Eligible for free school meals
Has a disability or specific learning difficulty
From black, minority or ethnic (BME) groups that are under-represented in higher education
From the Gypsy, Traveller or Roma communities
Refugees and/or asylum seekers
Is a young carer

We also work with:

Students studying for applied, vocational or work-based Level 3 qualifications
Mature students
