Role Summary

The role requires a highly motivated and hands-on team player with an exceptional attention to detail. The role will suit an Engineer who can quickly develop skills in new areas and liaise with other engineers within a multidisciplinary team.

Dimension of Function

The Infotainment team is responsible for the specification, test and delivery of the following systems, infotainment head units, displays, optical systems, Audio, Antennas and driver controls.

The position requires a highly motivated and hands-on team player with an exceptional attention to detail, diligence and a positive attitude. The fast paced development and bespoke target platform provide a challenging environment suited to an engineer who has the ability to quickly develop skills in new areas and liaise with other engineers within a multidisciplinary team. Area of Responsibility

The Infotainment team is responsible for the specification, test and delivery of all infotainment systems. Responsibilities will include:

* Assist with management of multiple hardware and software suppliers to deliver a new infotainment system on time, on cost, and within quality and functional specifications.
* Developing system requirements to automotive industry standards.
* Supplier management
* Report on current activities, Hardware and software status and issues at a business level
* Developing and co-ordinate DVP plans for all areas associated with the instrument cluster hardware and software.
* Manage and develop test rigs to facilitate the required testing of all new and existing features within the instrument cluster software domain.
* Assisting Principle Engineer in provision of work to the test team
* Proof of concept development
* Delivering tasks to a strict timing plan

Knowledge / Experience

* Experience with Infotainment Systems: Bluetooth, Hands-Free Phone, AM/FM radio, Navigation, Audio Media and Infotainment HMI features. Experience of systems testing of HMI-based systems.
* Experience of antenna verification
* Experience of audio performance tuning
* Knowledge of CAN and CAN based tools.
* Experience and understanding of vehicle level system integration in terms of hardware and software
* Experience of systems developing MI-based systems.
* Experience in a systems engineering, or electronics role
* Experience of the Systems Development Lifecycle (V Model); writing system requirements, defining test cases and writing test procedures.
* Ability to produce formal documentation to a professional standard.

* Organised, systematic and understand the process of fault finding.
* Ability to effectively manage time
* Passion for the automotive industry, technology and/or audio would be advantageous but not essential.
* Technical project management with proven evidence of decision making and
* Good commercial awareness to maintain a focus on cost, profit, quality and risk.
* A strong track record of delivering designs to timing, weight and cost targets.
* Supplier management, comfortable with understanding and implementing DFM requirements within the project scope.
* Background in low volume, high performance sports or racing cars preferred.
* Ability to produce formal documentation to a professional standard.
* Honours degree in a relevant Engineering subject such as Electronics, Software, or Physics.
