National Coal Mining Museum
Brewster McBride is working in exclusive partnership with the National Coal Mining Museum of England to recruit three new Trustees.
Situated near Wakefield in a rural setting, the National Coal Mining Museum provides a genuine insight to the hardworking lives of miners throughout the ages and an interactive and engaging experience for visitors. In addition it offers a range of learning opportunities for schools groups and children with historic colliery buildings, interactive galleries and inspiring workshops
The National Coal Mining Museum for England wishes to appoint a number of new Trustees to its Board who are enthusiastic and committed. The Trustees will help guide the Museum and will hold a formal governance position and play a key 'challenge and support' role for the Museum's executive, staff and volunteers. This is an exciting time for the Museum as it is about to undertake a significant planning and organisational review in order to be more commercial and visitor-focused. A major capital asset improvement plan is also under consideration. These developments will be sympathetic to its mission of 'Keeping Coal Mining Alive' and to the authentic experience of going underground in the last real coal mine in England.

With a proven track record, you will be a strategic thinker, able to contribute effectively to meetings and have the time and skills to commit to this important role. We welcome applications from anyone inspired to give their time to this unique museum and we are particularly keen to hear from candidates with skills or experience in one or more of the following:
* Legal
* Commercial or retail.
* Fundraising/sponsorship.
* Tourism /visitor attraction.
* Heritage or museums.
* Social media applications or digital technology.
Trustee positions are unremunerated - reasonable travel and subsistence expenses can be reimbursed. Time commitment is approximately 10 - 15 days per year.
