Would you like to play a safety critical role working with the Nuclear Facility Design Authority (NFDA) for site facilities/systems that support various submarine projects? We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Engineer (Nuclear Facility Design) at our site in Barrow-in-Furness.

As a Senior Engineer (Nuclear Facility Design), you will be producing, managing and developing nuclear facilities safety documentation to demonstrate justification of facilities, such as industrial buildings, clean rooms, cranes and dock structures /systems.

This role will offer good exposure to a variety of challenging projects across the programme and interaction with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

Your main responsibilities as a Senior Engineer (Nuclear Facility Design Authority) will involve:

Producing, modify or review facilities safety justification documentation for Nuclear site facilities and obtain authorisation through due process

Providing design advice to operators, maintainers and site committees including advice to meet normal operation as well as nuclear, HS&E and other relevant legislation

Producing special operating procedures for nuclear related facilities

Assisting consultants who supply specialist analysis and design services and installation contractions

Producing reports relating to the assessment of structural or mechanical adequacy

Supporting the design of the new facilities, including reviewing and reporting on design deliverables

Providing technical and engineering advice and articulating and presenting technical arguments clearly, logically and simply

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential:
Degree Qualified (Engineering or Science) or HNC/HND with equivalent experience
Experience of facilities/system design within a Mechanical or Structural discipline
Demonstrated experience in safety justification /safety document production
Strong IT Skills including MS Project, word, excel

Desirable:
Stakeholder management experience
Experience in the design substantiation of nuclear related facilities
Reliability qualification or knowledge
Membership of professional engineering body working towards Chartership
