The Coffee Shop is a vibrant central hub of the College, serving great snacks and drinks through the day.  We are seeking an outgoing, flexible individual to join our small enthusiastic team.  The role will include serving breakfast, lunch and dinner for students, staff, Fellows and conference guests, as well as all preparation and cleaning duties as expected in a Coffee Shop.

General Background 
Fitzwilliam College is a dynamic, welcoming, international community committed to developing the talents of all its students, the support of young academics and the training and professional development of its staff. It is one of the 31 colleges that form part of the University of Cambridge and is a large community with around 475 undergraduates and 350 full- and part-time graduate students, 55 Fellows and more than 100 staff.

It recruits and teaches undergraduate and post-graduate students from all over the world, holds open days for schools and prospective applicants and arranges subject conferences for teachers. It also keeps in touch with an alumni base of over 8000, arranging events and reunions, and runs a thriving conference and catering business with an annual turnover of approximately £1.3m, hosting over 150 conferences a year, many of which are residential.

Conditions of employment 
For the full-time post, the hours of work are 37.5 per week, working five days out of seven, including evenings and every other weekend, and therefore some flexibility is required.   During vacation periods, the jobholder will working with as part of the general Catering team in the main dining hall and other areas of the College, as this is a quiet period for the Coffee Shop. 

The appointment is subject to a six-month probationary period.  The annual salary is £17,031 (which includes a recent pay award).  Benefits include a non-contractual bonus scheme, 33 days’ annual leave including public holidays, free meals on duty, enrolment into a contributory Group Personal Pension Scheme and car parking on site, when available.

Previous experience in a similar environment is desirable but not essential, as full training will be given.
