Edustaff are currently recruiting for a secondary school in Birmingham. They are looking for a strong graduate of English to take on the role of a learning mentor, teaching in their English department from September.

The role is predominantly based within the English department but as you bond with the pupils and build relationship, you may find yourself contributing to additional subjects. This is a great opportunity for prospective teachers to gain school experience and develop their skills and abilities in this field prior to starting a PGCE/ School Direct Scheme in September 2019.

Main duties:

The role is full time, 5 days a week for the duration of the school year which start in September.

You will be required to support lessons under the guidance of existing well trained staff. You will set high expectations of pupils, provide supervision in the classroom as well as support and participate in curriculum and faculty development.

You will assist with the assessment, recording and reporting of progress and take responsibility for groups or classes as part of a timetables program of cover for short and long term absence of other staff members. As your skills develop you will be given the opportunity to deliver lessons and agreed learning experiences to pupils as agreed by senior staff, and ensure that your lessons are differentiated to cater for pupils of all abilities and needs including those pupils with Special Educational Needs, providing you with an excellent grounding and preparation for your teacher training.
