As the Electronic Design Engineer are you will be instrumental and at the forefront of full cycle precision product engineering design and development of opto-electronic products?
Can you to take the lead and contribute electronic expertise to the team designing a wide range of manual and automated electro-mechanical precision build, integrated products that are high quality, reliable and supplied to leading educational, research and manufacturing customers?
The business is growing at nearly 20% year on year there are exciting challenges and opportunities ahead as part of the multi-functional engineering and manufacturing teams. They are busy, the staff dedicated and engaging - and your coffee won't go cold as insulated mugs are provided!
Electronic Design Engineer responsibilities:
* Design and realise cost-effective new systems, circuits, devices and develop existing solutions
* Develop product specifications with colleagues, often including those from other parts of the global business ensuring they interoperate with devices developed by others
* Detailing specifications and outline designs; evaluate and test theoretical designs
* Discuss and solve complex problems with team members, sub-contractors, suppliers and manufacturing departments
* Ensure product reliability, safety regulations are met, planning and overseeing the product development
* Consider cost, safety and time constraints
Electronic Design Engineer essential skills and qualities
* A good degree or higher in electrical or electronic engineering, or significant relevant experience
* Proven hands on experience of electronics product design with a high level of technical knowledge and IT skills with an understanding of electrical safety legislation
* Good analysis and practical problem solving skills to improve designs through innovation
* Strong embedded software development in assembler and C
* High speed embedded microcontroller/DSP and digital control design
* Digital: servo loop design and modelling, control and data acquisition systems.
Electronic Design Engineer desirable skills and qualities
* Ability to develop and modify C#, C++ applications plus CPLD, FPGA design/programming
* Familiarity and experience of the Kiel compiler
* Analogue: low noise, high bandwidth amplifier design, closed loop design
* High speed serial/parallel bus technologies, Electromagnetic brushed and brushless motor drive control
* High speed moving coil/magnet galvo motors.
* Anti-resonance filtering techniques (digital and analogue)
* EMC/LVD competence; Electronics CAD experience using Altium
* Self-diagnostics. Team leader experience. Knowledge of the photonics industry
