Hours: 38 hours pw (working hours: Mon to Fri 8.00am to 16.00pm)

Our Client, Senior Aerospace BWT, is one of the UK's biggest design and manufacturing companies for lightweight low pressure air distribution ducting systems, supplying the world's leading aircraft manufacturers. This is a great opportunity to join a growing company who are well respected in their industry.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Manufacturing Engineer to join a busy Production Team. The purpose of the role is to provide support to the Management Team by providing technical expertise and by working collaboratively on manufacturing processes. Contributing to the company's Continuous Improvement culture to look at reducing waste, improve efficiency and increase product gross margin. Activity will be subject to safety, quality, cost and delivery.

Key accountabilities for the Manufacturing Engineer:

* To ensure the manufacturability of all new products from initial concept through to design.

* Lead cost-down activities to improve manufacturing methods and increase throughput.

* Develop facility layout and improve production flow.

* Assist with the creation of Capex applications.

* Assist in the negotiations and purchasing of new supplies and services.

* Assist with repair and troubleshooting of plant and equipment.

* Producing and assist in the development of Standard Operating Procedures.

* Assess the HSE risk related to manufacture, e.g. design and development of Jigs and fixtures.

* Assess hazards, risks and controls of plant, equipment & process and generate and implement risk assessments.

* Identify and address improvements for e.g. in accordance with the PDCA process, specific improvement projects such as tooling errors/omissions and production improvements

* Support BWT's Research and Development department, e.g. conduct trials, compile reports and implement changes.

What about you?

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will have:

* Previous experience of working in a target driven manufacturing environment

* Previous experience of MRP/ERP Planning tools

* Previous experience of applying Lean Manufacturing tools and techniques

* Ability to apply reason and persuasion to promote action and change

* Good communication, organisational and problem solving skills

* A relevant Engineering or Manufacturing qualification such as HNC or a project management qualification with demonstrated experience and achievements are preferable.

* Effective time management skills

* MS Office intermediate

In addition, you may have:

* Previous experience of working in an aerospace and/or composite manufacturing facility.
