Excellent opportunity to join a Main contractor's Pre-construction team, gaining dedicated mentoring to progress in to Design Management.

Salary:- £50,000 basic + Car + Package
Location:- Manchester

Role Description
My client is seeking a Design Co-ordinator to join a pre-construction team that focuses on new build schemes across the Northern region. Working in various sectors including:-

• Education,
• Healthcare,
• Local Authorities,
• Residential,
• Leisure sectors,

Projects range in value up to £20+ million with a full order book for the next 18 months with more work being awarded and a tender team that is very busy.

The Pre-construction team has a mixture of different people including Estimators, Planners, Commercial, Design, Project Management and Document Control. With this team dedicated to not only winning the projects but also to be the technical support when the project goes live and through to completion.

The Design Co-ordinator role is there to take a project from the award stage through to the project completion. Involved with pulling together the programme resources such as:-

• Programme review against the technical aspects of the project
• Support in the collation of the Cost plans and associated risks.
• Building logistics of the scheme
• Assembling the Design support function for the project.

Working with the more senior members to ensure each project is set up to identify and mitigate the risk from the technical and commercial aspects. The idea behind it is to have more control over the project before it starts, making it a smoother process. Not letting a project run its course and trying to solve risks as they present themselves on site.

Required Experience
The successful candidates will be ideally be educated to degree standard. You need to have experience in either Construction/Architectural Design co-ordination to be suitable for this role.

If you work for an Architectural practice and have site exposure this could be a good move in to the main contracting arena.

Having managed at least one project from start to finish, working on a new build project in a Design Co-ordinator / Design Manager Position.
