We are now seeking Learning Support Assistants, to deliver 1:1 and group support to students with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) and/or Significant Learning Difficulties (SLD) and/or on the Autistic Spectrum. Individuals with experience within Makaton and PECS and or those with experience of Personal Care is desirable but not essential.
Learning Support Assistants will support students who are enrolled on one of the following programmes:
Access Inclusive Learning (AIL) – AIL offers a unique curriculum for students who have SLD and focuses on the individual student; the timetable, target setting, review procedures and transition are person centred. At the end of the first year a Progression Pathway for each student is determined; this takes into account their individual aspirations.
Access Skills Development (ASD) - A unique course for students on the Autistic Spectrum. Some students use this course as the first step into College. Students who may be anxious of new places and people are able to be gradually introduced into a learning environment. ASD is based on the key communication models of TEACHH, PECS and Makaton. We offer a broad, integrated curriculum incorporating Basic Skills (literacy and numeracy), ICT, Art, Music, Dance, Sensory Learning and Life Skills.
Access to Community and Education (ACE) - Access to Community and Education is a specialist learning programme designed to meet the educational needs of students with PMLD and SLD streamed via two pathways.
