Adventure Playground Lead Assistant

Pertemps are looking for an Adventure Playground Lead Assistant to work 30 hours a week between 4 sites based in Hemel Hempstead, Herts. This position is temporary for 12 weeks, which could become a longer-term opportunity. The pay rate is GBP12.48 per hour.

This position is based in one of the fastest developing areas in the South East, offering a fantastic location, fast connections into London and excellent local facilities. You will be required to work between four adventure playgrounds across the borough, which cater for 8 to 12-year olds (children under 8 are welcome when accompanied by an adult). They are a safe environment for children to meet, play and learn. They are managed and supervised by a team of qualified staff and provide a secure and stimulating environment for all children, including those with special needs and disabilities.

Opening Hours:

Term time -
Monday to Friday 3.30pm to 6.30pm
Saturday and Sunday closed (Available for hire)

School holidays -
Monday to Friday 9.30am to 5.30pm
Saturday and Sunday closed (Available for hire)

The Adventure Playground work on seasonal hours with an average of 30hrs per week. The playgrounds are available for hire on Saturday & Sundays, which will be on a rota basis.

For this post an enhanced DBS is required; driver with car ideal to enable movement between sites, but public transport can be used.

Education, Professional Qualifications and Training:

Completed a Play work Qualification Level 3 or equivalent
Completed Safeguarding children level 3

Skills, Abilities and Special Knowledge:

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Experience in organising sports, arts & crafts activities
Knowledge of current play equipment legislation
Ability to write and review risk assessments
Knowledge & understanding of the importance of play in children's development
Ability to identify safeguarding issues and act in accordance with the process
Ability to make service improvements and can identify income opportunities
Knowledge of the Legislation and standards in relation to children's health and safety
Ability to deal with conflict.
Able to effectively manage complaints both verbally and in writing

Previous Experience:

Experience of working with children aged 6-16 years
Experience of managing a team
Experience in managing a play facility
Management experience is essential

In return the Adventure Playground Lead Assistant will receive a salary of GBP12.48 per hour.
