Store Manager

Vacancy specification.

An exciting opportunity to run an exciting new shoe shop, selling the world's leading Antistress Footwear brand. Whilst the majority of what we sell goes through independent retailers, we have our own network of 24 stores and concessions around the UK and Ireland, run from our head office in Market Harborough.

We hope that the new store will be open before the end of September 2018. The shop is in Union Street, Bath and will stock a great range of footwear and accessories for men and women Opening hours will be weekdays (9-5.30) Saturdays (9-5.30) Sundays and Bank Holidays (11-4)

We are looking for a manager with experience of retail who can drive the store, motivate the staff and engage with customers. The role is very much a "Hands On" management role as the manager in our stores is the main sales person and usually, the only full time member of staff.

Paperwork and interference from head office is kept to a minimum. Managers are encouraged to run stores as though they were their own business units, but obviously with guidance and discussion with management from head office. Our other store managers are a friendly bunch (mainly!!) who are always there to support each other.

Of course, being retail, weekend work is also required. In our stores, Managers tend to work Saturdays (often our busiest day) and take Sundays and another weekday off.

The Manager needs to be able to walk the fine line between being one of the team and yet being able to assert his or her authority.

Our customers are a very loyal and friendly bunch, and we need them to feel a part of a happy and welcoming environment in our stores.

Criteria

Applicants should have enthusiastic personality and the ability to be able to engage in a positive way with customers and staff.

Experience of dealing with people and running a team is more important than direct footwear experience although that would, of course, be advantageous.

You should be able to operate a computer as we use Excel and Outlook as well as our till systems.

Accuracy with cash handling and electronic till system essential.
