Senior Support Workers (Community)

Sense are looking for a reliable and motivated people to join our professional team as Senior Support Workers. These roles are based across the Midlands community, including Worcester Coventry, Warwick and Wolverhampton. We have various casual and permanent contracts available, working up to 20 hours per week.

About the role

Our Senior Support Workers offer support to people with a range of complex needs, including sensory impairments. You will be there to support the individual to do the things they want to do - not to do things for them. You’ll act as the eyes and ears of the individual – to make sure that communication is clear and that they are able to move around safely. The support you provide may be in someone’s home, their local community or work setting.

The work will be varied depending on the individual you support, but may include activities such as helping with shopping, dealing with mail, accessing local social and leisure activities or engaging with Sense services.

You must be able to work flexible hours to suit the service requirements and have the ability to work on your own initiative.

About you 

We would like to hear from you if you have experience of working with vulnerable people, and ideally have experience of working with people with a sensory impairment. A willingness to develop your skills in all communication methods is an essential part of this role. You will need to be able to creatively solve problems that may arise using a person-centred approach and ideally have experience of using person-centred planning tools.

You must be enthusiastic, adaptable and friendly with a commitment to ensuring the individual you work with get the best out of their lives.

A full UK driving licence and use of your own vehicle is an essential requirement for this role, as is a willingness to travel between communities. It'd be great if you held or would be willing to work towards, a Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care or equivalent, but training is provided. We're also particularly interested in applicants with British Sign Language ability.
