Sewing Machinist

We are looking for a sewing machinist to join a furniture manufacturing company based in Colchester, Essex.

The role will predominantly involve sewing pre-cut fabric in to cushions and upholstery; therefore previous industry experience is essential, with the successful applicant ideally having over locking and / or flatbed experience.

Duties:
- Assemble by sewing machine, pre-cut pieces of fabric, into either cushions or upholstery for furniture
- Work to the specification for the relevant model of furniture
- Ensure quality of sewn work meets the set standards e.g. 1/2" seams and 6 stitches to 1"
- After training be capable of achieving and maintaining the Standard Performance Rate
- Identify flaws in the fabric piece parts and return to the repair cutter to be replaced
- Ensure that Health and Safety is of the utmost importance to all staff and that the Company's Health and Safety policy is strictly adhered to

Skills:
- Previously worked as a sewing machinist
- Knowledge of upholstery sewing
- Ideally have knowledge of locking and/or Flatbed machines preferred
