The opportunity:
An excellent opportunity is available to jointly lead the Zurich Municipal Underwriting Performance Team. You will be responsible for ensuring delivery of first class governance & control, portfolio management, underwriting integrity and skill; and for ensuring the execution of underwriting strategy and achievement of our underlying performance metrics and business plans.

Key Responsibilities:
• Working side by side with Zurich Municipal Leaders and Underwriters, support the achievement of business plans by providing expert technical underwriting guidance.
• Actively manage the achievement of key Underwriting targets
• Analyse performance data/metrics, identify trends and take appropriate actions.
• Implement and actively monitor underwriting improvement initiatives (eg Tiering).
• Help handle complex queries and referrals within the MFU (within delegated authority).
• Provide coaching and training to underwriters to develop technical knowledge.
• Act as subject matter expert to develop underwriting technical training content.
• Responsible for the cascade and control of underwriting authorities for the MFU's.
• Implement the Zurich technical standards, controls, quality and governance practices and thereby improve and maintain the integrity of the underwriting function.
• Actively manage technical governance issues.
• Analyse uw quality data/metrics, identify trends, quantify underwriting leakage, and lead the development, implementation and monitoring of action plans.
• Oversee administration of and monitoring of compliance with accurate Technical pricing, underwriting rules and guidelines, and insurance laws and regulations.
• Support "Risk Based Planning" for the Quality and Governance strategy across the BU.
• Facilitate & manage the underwriting review process (TUR's, underwriting audits, MPR's and referrals, etc).
• Conduct cross-business unit or special request audits
• Taking a leading role in contributing to the underwriting strategy and developing business plans and pricing strategies for Lines of Business and ZM teams.
• Demonstrate understanding of assigned Business Unit underwriting practices, processes, and governance activities.
• Provides recommendations on aspects requiring change or remedial action to underwriting strategy, accumulations/CAT elements, data and insights as necessary.

Your skills and experience:
• The ideal candidate will have a degree level qualification and achieved or be progressing towards further professional qualifications (typically an Associate or Diploma from the CII)
• For this role the candidates will typically have 5 years' experience of underwriting management and good knowledge of legal, regulatory and compliance issues.
• Proven track record of delivery and experience in a line of business or market facing underwriting team
• Possess a high level of authority in one or more main Lines of Business
