An award winning, independent and established Travel Company is looking for a new addition to their small and passionate team in the form of an experienced Part time Accountant. This is a new position that has been created due to company growth and is working directly with the Directors based in York.
This is a stand-alone and new opportunity for an experienced Accountant ideally with good knowledge of foreign currency transactions who can aid the development of the companies' internal reporting function and efficiencies.
You will be responsible for multiple levels of finance related work. This will encompass day to day bookkeeping, bank reconciliations, journal entries, management accounts and payment processing. You will also be involved in adhoc project work as well as the preparation of audit files with the assistance of external Accountants.
Responsibilities will include:
* Purchase ledger: purchase invoice approval, dealing with payment queries and anomalies, multi-currency supplier payments, supplier statements.
* Sales ledger: sales invoices, credit control, commission payments.
* Nominal ledger: invoices and payments.
* Bank, credit card and petty cash reconciliation.
* Weekly and monthly data imports.
* Monthly/quarterly preparation of ATOL/ABTA returns
* Monthly reconciliation of BSP/airline payments
* Assistance with the preparation of monthly management reports.
* Experience of VAT in the travel industry and monthly payroll an advantage
To be successful in this role it is ideal (although not essential) if you have previous experience in the travel / tourism sector or have dealt with foreign currency as this role involves a large volume of multi-currency transactions to the companies' supplier partners. Experience of Sage 50 is required.
The role of Accountant will be part time (min. 30 hrs per week). These hours will be set but at times there may be the need for some flexibility subject to company requirements
