Job Description This organisation is looking to recruit an Internal Auditor on a temporary basis for 3 months initially. Re-advertised on the 30th of August 2018
Main Duties:
* To review the activities of the Council and report upon the effectiveness of their operation and whether they operate within the policies and objectives set by the Council.
* To review the systems of control within the Council and report upon any weaknesses found or areas for improvement/development.
* To conduct internal audit reviews in a professional manner using risk based auditing techniques over a wide range of different audit environments and audit clients.
* To examine financial and other records of the Council's activities as specified and to report upon any irregularities or unsound practices.
* To examine specific activities of the Authority and report or advise on:
1. Improved efficiency in administration
2. Improvement in value for money
3. Improved performance management procedures or techniques
4. Improved controls to mitigate risks
* In line with the Head of Internal Audit's strategic plan, as approved by the Director of Finance and Civic Affairs Committee.
* To prepare as requested by the Head of Internal Audit, with the Director of Finance's approval, audit programmes, reports, internal control questionnaires, flow charts of procedure etc.
* To work without supervision and complete audit assignments within agreed budgets and timescales.
* To communicate with all levels of staff and management to agree audit briefs, update on audit progress and agree management actions at reporting stage.
* To supervise and carry out peer reviews as appropriate to individual audits.
* To observe the Council's equal opportunities policy and racial equality policies in all aspects of employment and service provision.
Due to the short term nature of this role you must have carried out similar audit duties ideally within the public sector.
