We have an exciting opportunity for an Operations Supervisor to join our global organisation. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring work is fully compliant with client specific instructions/protocols and adheres to Industry Standards (API/ASTM/ISO/EI). They will assist the Inspection/ Branch Manager in delivering services with full regard for related execution costs to ensure profitability of business activities and as a minimum the attainment of annual Rev and L/C budgets.

Key Accountabilities

  • Identify and initiate improvements to current inspection operations in order to maximise personnel utilisation, equipment availability and adherence to technical standards
  • Take lead and assist the execution of operational field activities during peak periods/ holidays etc
  • Ensure effective two-way communication with team members to achieve appropriate levels of understanding of and commitment to appropriate business objectives
  • Maintain relations with clients to enhance trust, understanding and an awareness of local market trends/developments
  • Comply fully with all issued requests and instructions received verbally or electronically as relayed in/ externally
  • To execute all assignments in strict accordance with local and client operational/ H&S procedures (RIICS, NAVARIK etc) and at all times act in a professional manner
  • Utilise fully SGS inspection reporting program exclusive of typographic or numerical errors
  • Assist in the coaching, counselling and development of local team, ensuring each individual has a set of objectives and is given an annual performance appraisal to enable effective communication of individual, team & business objectives and address any areas for improvement in a constructive and timely manner
  • Responsible for report compilation, verification and approval prior to client release
  • Maintain timely and accurate comm's with clients and team to encompass updates on delays and any/all potential impacts on work execution
  • Actively seek to resolve client enquiries in a timely and effective manner to ensure consistency of service delivery and agreed contractual obligations

Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Must have a sound knowledge of inspection, measurement equipment and methods
  • Must have sound knowledge of international measurement and sampling standards, operational best practise and application of same
  • Effective leadership, interpersonal, teamworking and time management skills (operating to often conflicting deadlines)
  • Ability and aptitude to perform often physically demanding outdoor work when required
  • Able to work under own initiative and with a high degree of autonomy & maturity.
  • Experience gained in a hydrocarbon inspection, storage or custody transfer role
  • Operating to defined local, client, industry and regulatory methods, processes and documentation e.g API, ASTM, ISO & EI
  • Customer interface; effective communications (verbal and electronic) and complaint resolution
  • Co-ordination and supervision of an efficient operational team

Qualifications

  • GCSE: Maths & English (grades A to C) or equivalent
  • Full, current, valid UK driving licence
  • IFIA Certified
