Job Title: Fleet Trainer & Assessor

Location: Brighton, Selhurst or Stewarts Lane

Salary: £47,000 + rail benefits

We are pleased to announce that one of our key clients within the rail industry, are actively seeking an experienced Fleet Trainer to join there busy team. You would ideally be coming from a rail background that has had hands on at maintenance engineering level.

The purpose of the role is to provide a training and assessment service to ensure that Fleet staff is competent to carry out their duties and responsibilities, working to depots specific development targets within the set time scales. The client is looking for you to increase the standard of knowledge and skill set for new and existing members of the team.

Key roles and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for training Fleet staff in all technical aspects of rolling stock plant and equipment
  • Develop and deliver high quality, effective training courses as required
  • Responsible for the provision all documentation relating to training courses
  • Carry out competency assessments as required by the competency management system
  • Work with line managers to develop individual coaching plans for staff
  • Report all completed training and competency assessments within the required timeframe
  • Undertake special projects at the discretion of the Chief Engineer
  • Training courses are developed within agreed timescales
  • High quality training is delivered
  • Competency assessment targets are met
  • Increase in staff skills and knowledge in relation to Traction & Rolling Stock (T&RS) and plant, leading to reduction in competency related train failures

Experience required for the role,

  • Good numeracy and literacy skills
  • T literate (using Microsoft, Word, Excel and Access)
  • Excellent organisation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • A minimum of 5 years knowledge and experience working on traction & rolling stock
  • Possess or complete within 6 months of appointment a C&G 7331 Trainer Techniques Qualification or equivalent
  • Possess or complete within 12 months of appointment an A1 Assessor Award or equivalent
