Job Title: Competence Development Manager

Location: London

Salary: £52,000 + Rail benefits

We have an exciting opportunity with one of our key clients within the Rail industry, looking for an experienced Competence Development Manager to join their currently growing team. The right individual will have a great opportunity to join one of the largest rail organisations within the UK and expand your portfolio.

The purpose of the role is to design, develop and implement training and competency packages in order to allow the client to effectively resource and deliver the depots engineering training.

Roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for the planning, development and delivery of all engineering training programmes to meet the needs of the GTR engineering directorate, including apprentice and graduate training schemes.
  • Accountable for the design and development of competence management standards and assessment packages for all engineering staff.
  • Responsible for ensuring the development of training packages meets industry standards and qualification criteria.
  • Ensure the Apprentice Development Management team has the necessary resources allocated to deliver objectives.
  • Responsible for delivering internal auditing practices and assessment of external training providers to ensure that GTR requirements and standards are maintained.
  • Development of dynamic training course packages that motivate staff, promoting positive culture change and support the competence standards across all GTR engineering activities.
  • Working with engineering managers to develop training and assessment packages which meet the expectation of the engineering directorate in line with company behaviours.
  • Implement a structure where training delivery uses a wide range of methods and technologies.
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate training and assessment records.
  • Accountable for the effective day to day line management and continuous development of engineering trainer assessors in line with company vision and values.
  • Support fleet incident management by undertaking on-call duties as required.

Experience:

  • Proven experience as fleet technical trainer
  • Knowledge of modern training techniques and tools in technical subjects
  • Experience in designing technical course content
  • Ability to address training needs with complete courses
  • Outstanding communication skills and man management skills
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
  • relevant qualification in technical field
  • Certification (Certified Technical Trainer) A1 certified or equivalent
