Our client is first and foremost an organisation responsible for delivering government policy on disclosure and barring functions. They are a Non-Departmental Public Body (NDPB) accountable to Parliament through the Secretary of State for the Home Office.
They play a vital role in safeguarding the most vulnerable in society through the provision of criminal record information enabling employers and voluntary organisations to make safer recruitment decisions and ultimately by barring those individuals considered to pose a significant risk in specific workforces.
They are currently looking to recruit a Finance Business Partner to join their finance function to be based in Darlington.
Within this role, you will be responsible for preparing annual budgets and quarterly forecasts for specific directorate areas, ensuring accurate and timely actual financial information is produced, whilst understanding potential risks to the budget / forecast and escalating these as required, identifying mitigating actions to resolve these. Building effective relationships and being a single point of contact you will support and challenge budget holders and managers to ensure appropriate decisions are made and will work with the wider finance team to ensure accounts are updated as appropriate and business knowledge is shared within the team as required.
Facilitating the annual budget process, ensuring credible budgets are developed that withstand scrutiny by the Senior Management Team and Board, you will ensure operational and project teams are challenged upon their use of resources, meeting demand, performance targets and business plan priorities.
Candidates must be qualified or part qualified member of a CCAB accounting body or CIMA with proven experience supporting and challenging budget holders / managers in a similar finance business partnering role. With the ability to explain financial information to non-financial audiences, you will support the financial assessment of proposals to aid decision making and will have knowledge and experience of financial modelling techniques. With advanced excel skills, you will have experience with delivering results, engaging people with the ability to lead and communicate at all levels, making effective decisions.
