The RNLI is the charity that saves lives at sea. We are now seeking an Infrastructure Technical Assistant to join our team in Saltash.

The RNLI Infrastructure Team is responsible for the maintenance, upkeep and improvement of RNLI Assets including Lifeboat Stations, Lifeguard Facilities, Support Centres Moorings, Slipways and Berths among a wide and varied estate in the UK and Ireland.

Embedded with the RNLI Infrastructure Teams working out of the RNLI Regional Base, the Infrastructure Technical Assistant (ITA) role will support a team of Senior Infrastructure Managers and Coastal Infrastructure Engineers, complementing the work they do.

Reporting to a Senior Infrastructure Manager, the ITA will gain a wide and varied knowledge of the RNLI's Estate, RNLI Infrastructure policies and procedures, building compliance and the financial obligations associated with construction works. The ITA will provide support to the team in terms of maintaining and updating databases, administrative support, delivering guidance to the team in relation to the RNLI Business Management System (Microsoft Dynamics AX) by becoming proficient in all relevant functions and sharing this knowledge with them.

The ITA will be expected to embed them self with the team and this will require occasional travel and nights away. This will include nights away to undertake training in the initial stages of the role as part of an induction program.

The ITA will need to be proficient in the use of all Microsoft Office Tools and previous experience in Microsoft Dynamics AX or similar systems such as SAP is desirable. You will be provided with training but a demonstrable ability to work on your own and use your initiative is essential. You must also be well organised, assertive and a good communicator as you will be a focal point for the Infrastructure Team and others within the RNLI requiring our services.

To be considered, you will need:

- Experience within a facilities management or multi-disciplinary office environment
- Advanced use of Microsoft Office, Excel, Word
- A-Levels or an NVQ Level 2 in construction or a related discipline
- Communication skills at all levels
- The ability to build strong relationships within an existing team

Previous experience in Construction or Facilities Management background is desirable and you must be able to update databases accurately, generate and interrogate reports to meet deadlines to ensure the RNLI remains compliant with legislative requirements.

This is an essential role as it enables our Engineers to be able to focus on their critical task of ensuring all RNLI infrastructure is safe, operational and compliant to ensure it performs it primary function in facilitating saving lives at sea.

Training will be provided with this role. In addition, all travel expenses will be covered and affording the ITA the opportunity to gain a better understanding of the RNLI Estate. There may also be the possibility of career progression for the right candidate.
