Fire Community Safety Officer (Part-Time)

An opportunity has arisen within our client's Prevention & Protection section for a Term Time Fire Community Safety Officer, based at the Lifewise Centre in Maltby.

Fire Community Safety Officer 
Contract: Initially 6 month Fixed Term Contract with potential to become permanent 
Hours: Part Time - Job Share 
Rota: Week 1 = Monday & Tuesday; Week 2 = Wednesday, Thursday & Friday (37 hours over 2 weeks) 
Work Pattern: Fixed Hours 8.30 – 4.30 Mon – Thurs 8.30 – 4pm Friday 
Salary: £18,870 – £20,541 per annum (Grade 4) 
Location: Lifewise Centre, Hellaby, Maltby

The overall purpose of the role will be to assist in the delivery of our client's Community Safety Strategy, through their Fire and Road Safety Education and appropriate interventions.

To be considered for this role you will have previous experience of Customer Care, awareness of the promotion of a safer community via Community Education and intervention, experience of delivering presentations to adults and children, basic administration skills, experience of dealing with members of the public face to face, ability to work as part of a team, working with public sector/public agencies, effective communication skills at all levels.

You must possess a full driving licence, Customer Care NVQ level II or equivalent or be able to demonstrate substantial work experience in this area.

The key duties will be to undertake appropriate Fire, and Road Safety intervention measures in the community in accordance with the Organisation’s policies and procedures, e.g. the fitting of smoke alarms and giving safety advice and interventions. Arson reduction activities, Crucial crew participation, Subaru and simulator events, Drive for Life, Learn and Live and other education/intervention packages run at the Lifewise centre, School presentations to both primary and secondary schools, to participate in the overall activities of Community Safety related exhibition and equipment including the driving of Fire Safety vehicles and to be involved in general education and training of members of the community in the reduction of risk through Fire and Road Safety intervention.
