JOB TITLE: Deputy Court Custody Manager
SALARY & BENEFITS: GBP19,292 with potential overtime available plus great benefits including 25 days holiday, pension scheme and life assurance, Discount & Childcare vouchers

Our client are a well respected prisoner transportation company who provide the safe and secure transportation and custody suite services for prisoners and young people in custody across England and Wales where now open for applications is the hugely exciting brand new role, Deputy Court Custody Manager based in Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire and surrounding areas
This role is a fantastic opportunity for anyone wishing to take the first step in to a career in management, promising plenty of opportunities to gain experience, responsibility, as well as including an apprenticeship funded by the company to achieve a Leadership and Management Diploma accredited by the Chartered Management Institute.
THE ROLE: The main responsibilities for The Deputy Court Custody Manager (DCCM) will carry out Prisoner Custody Officer duties, with the primary responsibility of maintaining the welfare of the people in our custody, providing care and support during their time in the court system. In addition, the DCCM will work alongside the Court Custody Managers (CCMs) within their operational cluster sharing ideas and working hard to ensure a safe and secure environment for prisoners and staff, as well as supporting 100% compliance with all policy and procedures. On occasions when a CCM is not at work, the DCCM will assume responsibility for that location.
Key Responsibilities for the Deputy Court Custody Managers role include :-
Understand the role of the CCM (Court Custody Manager) and be able to deliver that role alongside them and in their absence taking on their full responsibilities, which includes but is not limited to: Manage absence in accordance with the absence management policy, and lead, manage and coach team members within the Court Provide cover for courts within the cluster as directed by ABM/CCM
Daily allocation of staff to meet the operational task's and carry out daily briefings
Responsible for the safe and secure movement of people in our client's custody; including out of prison, in vehicles, at court including to the dock, and on legal visits and comfort breaks
Ensure the welfare of people in custody, including conducting risk assessments for vulnerable or 'at risk' people, managing meal times & snacks as well as ensuring comfort stops are taken when necessary whilst in transit
Ensuring all 'prisoner checks' are completed and recorded
Manage incidents if they occur including potential use of physical force to control and restrain when required
Liaise with third party agencies including the police and prison services to ensure correct documentation is completed
Keep up to date with all communications from the company including general business updates and updates to Standard Operating Procedures and Working Practice and respond to emails in a timely manner
THE CANDIDATE: The successful candidate for the Deputy Court Custody Managers role should be a calm and patient person who has excellent communication skills and can effectively build good working relations with people on all levels and posses all the traits that a Prisoner Custody Officer / Court Custody Officer would need. In addition to being someone who has a positive and practical attitude, is non judgemental and can provide a high level of care to people you should be someone who is a natural leader and motivator, and be someone that is motivated and has a desire to develop into a managerial role . You must be organised and able to meet deadlines, work well under pressure and must have a valid UK driving licence.
Due to the nature of this role you should be someone who is physically fit, must be comfortable in confined spaces with prisoners, able to commit to a flexible working pattern and be happy to undergo a vetting process and DBS checks a well as extensive training in a classroom setting.
Key Experience/ Characteristics preferred for the Deputy Court Custody Managers role in Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire :-
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
Should be a calm, caring and patient individual
The ability to work well under pressure and to tight time deadlines and someone who can step up to leading the team in the absence of the CCM (Court Custody Manager)
Must have valid UK Driving Licence (preferably C1 Licence but not essential)
Must be able to commute to Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire
Must be Physically fit and able to use force and restrain when required
Flexibility with the hours you can work is essential
A positive and practical attitude is essential
Must be willing to undergo a DBS check and company vetting process
