The successful applicant will lead and develop the Mechanical Engineering team, with overall responsibility for mechanical design and development activities within the Engineering Department. We are working with a leading electronics manufacturer, who have an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Engineering Manager to join their UK operations., Preferably Degree qualified in Mechanical and/or Production engineering or HND/HNC with demonstrable direct experience. * At least 10 years of experience in product design and development, with a mechanical bias. Required Knowledge & Skills * Demonstrated ability to lead and develop an Engineering team * Sound understanding of line management responsibilities; workload management; project management requirements; recruitment and selection; health and safety and professional mentoring * Demonstrable organisational and personal time management skills * Understand and interpret requirements from customer specifications * Work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team * Methodical in analysis and problem solving * Ability to take responsibility for delivery of mechanical design on assigned projects * Have experience of quickly and effectively producing mechanical designs to required specification, timescales and budgets * Able to focus on design for manufacture and assembly, cost and performance targets ensuring the design meets its objectives. * Competent in the selection of materials and solutions appropriate to project objectives and supply chain strategy * Highly proficient in the use of a 3D CAD system (preferably Solidworks) for 3D part / assembly design and 2D detail component / assembly drawings *, Have exceptional communications skills: verbal, written, technical report writing, technical presentation (e.g.at design reviews) * Be competent in using office suite packages (e.g. Microsoft Office)
