Role: Training Manager - Manufacturing

Location: Gloucester

Duration: 6 month initial contract

An exciting new opportunity has arisen for an experienced Training Manager with a strong Manufacturing background, to join the team based in Gloucester for an initial 6 month project.

This person will be required to lead a small team of Training Specialists, who are assessing and delivering technical training of Dowty manufacturing personnel. (Both OEM and R&O activities).

We are looking for an experienced training manager to:

  • Maintain training delivery records (individuals and department)
  • Plan training/assessment activities.
  • Assess employee competences (post training).
  • Provide feedback to trainers on quality of training delivered.
  • Provide training solutions to non-standard training requests.
  • Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering and Production Leaders in reviewing shop-floor process documentation (routing cards etc..)
  • Apprentice program management for all Dowty Apprentices.
  • Recruit and train Training team personnel.
  • Manage training budget
  • Conduct effective induction and orientation sessions
  • Maintain a keen understanding of training trends, developments and best practices
  • Resolve any specific problems and tailor training programs as necessary

Requirements

  • Proven work experience as a training manager in a technically complex industry. (Manufacturing/Engineering/Aviation)
  • Track record in designing and executing successful training programs
  • Familiarity with traditional and modern training methods (mentoring, coaching, on-the-job or in classroom training, E-learning, workshops, simulations etc)
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to plan, multi-task and manage time effectively
  • Strong writing and record keeping ability for reports and training manuals
  • Good computer and database skills
  • BS degree in education, human resources or relevant technical field
