Working for a company which is part of an international group with design, manufacturing and sales offices throughout Europe, North America and Asia. The Design Engineer will design, develop, modify and evaluate electronic parts, components or integrated circuitry for electronic equipment and other hardware systems for a variety of products supplied to the healthcare, defence, avionics and rail industries. Working in a small friendly team of with up to 7 products going through design cycle at any time.

Duties
Design of AC/DC switch mode power supplies 40W to 1500W, utilizing various electrical topologies.
Design and development of power supply products from concept to volume production
Ensure products comply with required regulatory standards.
Liaise with cross-functional to facilitate the design process.
Liaise with international manufacturing locations during development and product infancy to maximize production yields.
Selection of raw materials, components and suppliers
Participate in internal design reviews, design verification testing and technical report writing.
Engineering Change Order/Notice generation.
Test equipment/Hardware design and build.
Electrical design of new and modified products.
Performs cost analysis and produces cost estimates.
Performs complex bench or DV test for the qualification of products.
Performs reliability prediction calculations and reports.
Responsible for root causes analysis on products.

Experience
Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering subject
Experience of digital hardware design.
Knowledge of power conversion principles, topologies and soft switching techniques and technologies.
Experience of designing EMI filters / PCB layouts for minimum EMI.
Working knowledge of circuit design and simulation.
Experience with electronic packaging, electronic power supplies and power conversion products.
Through understanding of Control theory.
Ability to write and analyse design documentation.
Strong project management experience and supervisory skills
Ability to work in a fast paced environment and complete tasks with minimum supervision.

Benefits
37.5 hours per week, 8.30 - 5.30 Mon to Thursday, Friday 8.30 - 3pm with 1 hour for lunch.
25 days annual leave, increasing 1 day for each 5 years of service plus bank holidays.
