Internal Logistics Assistant
Main purpose of position
Work with the Furniture Production Manager to ensure all furniture and related items move through the business in a planned and organised flow to meet production, storage and health and safety requirements and targets, minimising damage and wastage.
To asses and communicate resources required on a daily and weekly basis to achieve this.
This will require regular communication with all senior members of the furniture team including:
- Project managers
- 'Hard furniture' and Upholstery supervisors/charge hands
- Supervisors of other workshops involved in furniture production or restoration.
Close cooperation with The Operations team is essential to coordinate unloading and loading company vehicles.
Reports to:
Furniture Production Manager
Key responsibilities to include but not limited to:
'Goods in' processing, including the receipt and distribution of all furniture (new and used), strip outs and furniture sundries:
- for immediate issue to workshops
- for stock
- for temporary storage.
To control the receipt and reallocation of items from other Inn Gear workshops, including the Joinery and Signs workshops
Allocating storage space effectively and efficiently, ensuring items are stored and stacked safely and tidily.
To ensure easy traceability of all furniture items held in stock and its origin
Highlighting potential stock issues (understock/overstock/damage) to manager.
Picking items from stock for allocation to workshops
Movement of finished goods to loading or temporary storage areas.
Will need full driving licence.
