PRODUCT DEVELOPER/GARMENT TECHNOLOGIST

THE OPPORTUNITY:

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Product Developer/Garment Technologist to join an industry leading company based in Redcar, initially on a Maternity Cover with a potential to secure a permanent role.

You will be participating in the design and development of new products from concept to final production alongside the successful and driven design and product team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Prepare accurate technical specifications for all samples
* Provide production engineering drawings and instructions and oversee design elements throughout the project lifecycle
* Communicate with factories to ensure correct materials, fit, sizing and quality standards are adhered to
* Support the Technical Manager and team in the development and management and running of technical projects
* Act as a Technical Representative for the business both internally and externally
* Develop and maintain detailed specification packs for all new and existing products
* Ensure all project file documentation is maintained and up to date on a regular basis
* Communicate the specification and product details in timely manner with Supply team
* Communicate daily with cross functional teams and vendors regarding all issues pertinent to accurate execution of samples throughout development process
* Identify and proactively resolve production, quality and cost issues with cross-functional partners prior to the start of Production
* Manage communication with suppliers related to sample development, ensuring fit, sizing and quality standards are in place before production starts
* Follow new and evolving technologies and materials appropriate to the product range
* Visit trade shows as and when needed for seasonal development

THE PERSON:

* A degree or equivalent qualification or experience in Fashion, Textiles, Sportswear or 3D Product
* A sound knowledge of garment construction and manufacturing preferably experience in the performance wear market
* Excellent fitting and grading skills
* Knowledge of materials testing
* Excellent organisational skills and previous experience managing bill of materials and critical path procedures
* Good computer skills including Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop & Microsoft Word/ Power Point/Excel and Outlook
