This is a senior role responsible for BCG’s enterprise application architecture, driving a unified strategy which connects across the domains of business, information, systems & technology architecture. This role leads a team of application architects across our IT application/service portfolio and is pivotal in driving the maturation of the broader architecture practice within BCG.
Responsibilities
- Establish target architecture & roadmaps
- Partner with business relationship managers, service owners & key business partners to develop a comprehensive target state architecture including capabilities, application & information
- Consolidate planned target architecture to support each function’s 3+ year plans
- At an overall level, ensure the disparate functional architectures & plans are aligned, compatible & will enable the business needs to support BCG’s growth aligned to our target operating model (TOM) & costs
- Ensure systems level architecture is aligned with business capabilities & overall technical architecture
- Once the target architecture is established, work diligently to ensure future plans align & are compatible with defined target architecture. Ensure dependencies are clear & systems components (or services) are created that can be leveraged & re-used throughout IT
- Take an active leadership role in architecture governance, including:
- Coordination of the IT Architecture Review Board
- Primary representative for architecture & applications in IT’s “3x3” project review process
- Facilitation of the architect network in establishing standards & guidelines
- Coordinate with other IT architects to ensure the business, system & technical target architectures & strategic plans are aligned
- Lead training for all IT staff on latest systems architecture best practices
- As member of the IT management team, take active role in helping to evolve the organisation’s processes, methodologies & capabilities
Requirements
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in related field; advanced technical degree or MBA preferred
- Extensive experience in a role responsible for driving global process & system change initiatives
- Experience working for a complex global organisation
- Experience in establishing IT systems architecture & strategic plans
- Proven experience leading technical innovation in a complex global organisation
- Basic knowledge of standard architecture frameworks required. Familiarity with BOST Enterprise architecture framework a plus
- Strong broad cross-functional technical experience required
- Common knowledge of the software packages or like-software packages BCG leverages is preferred. These include: Microsoft Office Suite, MS SharePoint, MS Dynamics, collaboration tools, Oracle Financials, Tableau, Business Objects, Custom development
- Experience with cloud based development platforms (PaaS), latest knowledge of technologies & mobile technologies preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, & PowerPoint
- Fluent in English (written & verbal) – other language skills beneficial
- Prior global experience, preferably in a professional services organisation
