Engineering Manager / Design Manager - Highways

Excellent opportunity to step up in to an Engineering Manager / Design Manager position in a brand new highways team based in Manchester for a global engineering consultancy.

Salary
£55,000 - £60,000 basic + Car or Allowance + Private Healthcare.

Day-to-day duties of the successful Engineering Manager / Design Manager will include:-

  • Lead and oversee detailed design
  • Ensure the right safety outcomes for our customers, designing the safest most cost effective solutions
  • Providing technical guidance, and support to colleagues, mentoring and developing others
  • an element of hands on design work on the larger / more technical schemes in the first 6 to 12 months
  • Mentoring the more junior Highway / Road designers to gain more experience allowing you to become more client focused.
  • Working in close collaboration with internal and external team members, help feed the wider business, identifying and helping to win work for the highways team.


The successful Engineering Manager / Design Manager candidate will have:-

  • A HNC / HND or Degree in an appropriate Engineering discipline and a relevant professional qualification (IEng/CEng).
  • Experience of Transportation Infrastructure with a strong understanding of civil engineering design principles. Conversant with relevant design standards particularly the UK Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) and Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works (MCDHW).
  • Experience of and ability to manage and support others in AutoCAD and MSOffice and knowledge of alignment design using Bentley MX / OpenRoads and/ or knowledge of drainage design using Micro Drainage and/or knowledge of Analysis Software (ideally ARCADY, PICADY, Auto Track, Key signs).
