A position exists for a Catering Assistant to work at the Centre for Theoretical Cosmology. Working hours would be Mon-Fri from 10.30 to 12.00 (7.5 hours per week), assisting the CTC Secretary running the coffee mornings.

Duties include: the successful role holder will facilitate coffee mornings at the Stephen Hawking Centre for Theoretical Cosmology (CTC), which is key daily focal point for interaction between theoretical physicists within the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics. The role holder will serve coffee, tea and biscuits in the Pavilion B common room every weekday morning, maintaining the serving area in a clean and hygienic condition. This longstanding position provides an important service for academics, researchers, students and administrative staff, ensuring there is a vibrant research atmosphere within the centre and good social interactions and communication.

The post is available for two years and might be renewed, subject to the availability of funding.

The successful candidate will have the ability to work to a routine with minimum supervision and use their own initiative. They should have good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team. No formal qualifications are necessary, but a possession of a general level of knowledge is required.
