The SfP team consists of a three promoted staff, each responsible for a House, a Support for Learning Leader and a Support for Learning teacher. The team are line managed by the DHT Pupil Support. There is a strong and established partnership working with a range of organisations, including Place2Be, the Green Team and SkillForce. All staff are trained in Restorative Practice. A bank of strategies and our Learning Hub support the successful integration of pupils with a wide range of needs and abilities in the school and the curriculum.

The role of the Support for Learning Teacher is to undertake the 5 roles:

• Tutoring and class teaching
• Teach collaboratively
• Provide consultancy support
• Providing specialist services
• Contributing to staff development

The Support for Learning teacher will work with all staff across the school towards ensuring that all students achieve their potential and that barriers to leaving are removed.

The postholder may also work within the Learning Hub as part of their contact time. Priorities for the post include focusing on literacy and numeracy as well as supporting differentiation development alongside faculties.

Salaries will be in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by the City of Edinburgh Council.
