Community Content Curator (Sports) - South East and Cambridge


Job Introduction

A terrific opportunity has arisen for somebody who is passionate about local sport to work for some of the most respected newspapers in the South East. You'll curate stories, news, pictures and match reports from local sports teams, these will be edited to the required style and length for the relevant newspaper.

You will also have the opportunity to work on your own stories.

The titles the successful applicant will be working for include the Cambridge News, the Surrey Advertiser, the Essex Chronicle, the Croydon Advertiser and the Kent and Sussex Courier.

Our CCCs also have the opportunity to work towards a Diploma of Journalism, enabling them to start on the path to being a fully qualified journalist.

Key Responsibilities
  • Arranging for content to be submitted by local sports teams for papers within our group
  • Editing reports and stories where required to the appropriate length and style
  • Establishing and maintaining excellent relationships with contacts so that this content is supplied at key deadlines, within the correct style
  • Contacting clubs and teams who do not currently supply content and arranging for them to do so

The Ideal Candidate
  • You will need to have a proven track record of working within a fast-paced environment. Attention to detail and accuracy are essential, alongside good IT skills. An interest in, and knowledge of, social media publishing platforms would also be an advantage.
  • A keen interest in sport would be a definite advantage.
  • You will need to be self-motivated with the flexibility to work on multiple projects and meet a variety of deadlines. A team player, you must also enjoy working on your own initiative.
