An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Spinning Department Manager to join a specialist manufacturer of high quality yarns. This is a fantastic opportunity based in the North West offering an attractive salary & benefits

This position will report directly to the Divisional Operations Manager, and you will be responsible for up to 30 team members across the Spinning department, whilst maintaining spinning quality and productivity.

Duties/responsibilities:

  • Overall Production responsibility for the business unit
  • Liaising with internal departments, Team Leaders and Operators to ensure maximum output/manufacturing efficiencies
  • Working to and monitoring agreed key performance indicators
  • Management of production waste and suggest ideas for improvements
  • Drive continuous product & process improvements
  • Managing and reporting production departmental budgets
  • Management of customer forecasts
  • Providing production updates
  • Planning and organising departmental training needs
  • Implement and maintain routine maintenance programmes
  • Maintaining housekeeping (5S)
  • Daily Inspection of any safety equipment
  • Responsibility for monitoring Health & Safety matters e.g. conducting risk assessments, safe use of equipment, COSHH, Emergency & Evacuation, accident & incident reporting & Manual Handling

Knowledge/skills/experience:

  • Previous experience working within a management role with world class manufacturing principles, preferably from a spinning / textile manufacturing background
  • Be able to demonstrate effective people management skills
  • Excellent planning and organising skills to manage and achieve business plans
  • The ability to maintain a professional approach, establish ethical relationships, and positively promote the business at all times
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Possess a good working knowledge of Health & Safety legislations
  • Lead by example and motivate the Team

Hours of work for this role are 39 per week, (currently operating on a day shift, however flexibility is essential).
