Location: Milton Keynes
My client requires an experienced Warehouse Team Leader to work on their late shift Sunday to Thursday within their engineering manufacturing site in Milton Keynes.
Job Purpose
To manage the operational activity of a manufacturing area by ensuring all standards and criteria identified are consistently achieved, developed and improved. The manufacturing areas contain various types of machinery, including direct and indirect resources, procedures and performances that must be observed to ensure the required levels of safety, quality, cost and delivery are achieved. To promote the use of LPOS improvement techniques to drive the performance of the area in all KPI categories.
To support Engineering with the introduction and implementation of new products, processes and materials, from receipt of order through to approval and full production.
To support operations in investigating and implementing cost saving initiatives
Principle Accountabilities
The role is responsible for the performance of a manufacturing production area and the job holder is required to lead, motivate, and develop the workforce within the area to achieve specific business targets and improvements in the following areas:
Safety
Directly responsible for delivering safety within the manufacturing area, in order to ensure a safe working environment through maintenance of Risk Assessments and Safe Systems Of Work's (SSOW). Consistently adhering to Health and Safety and COSHH procedures, identifying and taking action when needed regarding non-conformance. Implements changes to reduce accidents and near misses, in addition to setting relevant controls. When necessary, to perform thorough accident investigations in a timely manner, helping to develop all standards and procedures, ensuring they are accurate and updated to reflect reality.
Quality
To ensure that activities within the manufacturing/ warehouse area comply to the company's quality systems in order that customer concerns are minimised and BSI targets are achieved. To support and react to customer needs, in the event of quality / delivery concerns. Complete and / or audit, in a timely, accurate manner the following daily documentation: DAR, Inspection and Test Certificate, Route Cards.
Cost Control
Manages exceptions to output and forward plans to ensure targets are achieved, by fully utilising all resources available, to maximise manufacturing/ warehouse efficiencies, whilst ensuring down time and non-value added activities are minimised. Monitors and evaluates scrap, implementing improvements that prevent reoccurrence. Manages absence and holidays effectively in line with company absence management system.
Delivery
To have the ability to organise time and plan through the day, ensuring all required activities are achieved. Ensure production plans within relevant manufacturing/ warehouse areas are adhered to and that production/ warehouse documentation is maintained to ensure customer needs are met. Highlight potential delivery concerns and also liaise with internal customers to ensure delivery concerns are communicated effectively in order to minimise the impact on the customer. Actively work to resolve issues.
Personnel Management
To effectively manage individuals in all aspects of company policy and procedures, including responsibility for training and development and ensuring key skills are maintained within the business. By ensuring staff are frequently rotated to guarantee these skills remain current. To be able to balance praise with critical constructive feedback to individuals. To be able to probe for information and consistently turn negatives into positive options and solutions. To consistently manage people issues when they occur, including when necessary, invoking the company disciplinary procedures.
Communication
To prepare for, attend and participate in various meetings. To implement constructive team briefs, which encourage effective two way communication. Conduct ongoing audits of the effectiveness of the communication process.
Planning & organisation
Effective planning and organising of self and team to minimise non-value addingactivities.
Proactive improvements to problems & methods
Identify problem areas and implement solutions by utilising 'team' resources. Develop methods by utilising support, function (e.g. Production Engineering) knowledge and experience to reduce non-value adding activities, and therefore cost.
